Growing up, I loved “View Master” pictures, which through the viewer provided the sense of being able to reach out and touch what was in the picture. The 3D effect just seemed to draw one right into the picture as 3D movies on the big screen do today.
Life is multi-dimensional. So is life’s journey. As we move along life’s pathway, we notice and take in the sights, the sounds, the smells, the tastes, and the textures around us. Some are more captivating than others. Therefore, where our focus rests as we move through life is important to consider.
In Paul’s letter to Christians at Ephesus, he made a number of statements regarding the manner in which these Christians once walked (or lived) and what marked or was to mark their present journey. Paul reminded them of when they had walked after the manner of the world (2:2) and further exhorted them away from walking according to the world’s futile thinking (4:17). He then urged these Christians toward walking in good works (2:10), walking worthy of their calling (4:1), walking in Christ-like love (5:2), walking as children of light (5:8), and walking wisely (5:15). Does our life walk parallel this image?
John encouraged. . .
“(5) This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (6) If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. (7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:5-7 ESV)
Considering our life journey in a multi-dimensional way, over the next few days (Lord Willing) let us meditate on a 3 “D” journey as it relates to [1] Decision, [2] Determination, and [3] Destination. May the walking of our mind associated with these three aspects of life’s journey impact our daily walk.
Have a great day KEEPING LIFE ON A PATH WITH GOD!
Carl
