We began this series by noting the French painter, Georges Seurat, who painted with dots rather than strokes of the brush. Up close the dots seem meaningless. To step back brings the whole picture into view. This is what Asaph did to gain a clearer perspective of life.
We read. . .
“(15) If I had said, “I will speak thus,” I would have betrayed the generation of your children. (16) But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, (17) until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.” (Psalm 73:15-17 ESV)
Asaph acknowledged the difficulty he had in understanding what he observed in life. He also realized the impact such a verbalization could have on others. However, when he stepped into God’s sanctuary — as he looked at life, standing in the presence of God — he was able to see that the wicked would ultimately be held accountable for their sins. Asaph went on to note the “slippery ground” on which the wicked stood. (Psalm 73:18) He also recognized their coming destruction and the fears they experienced. (Psalm 73:19) The wicked would someday awaken from their dream world and have to face the reality of God’s righteous judgment. (Psalm 73:20)
Though the wicked may appear to do well, it will only be for a season. The reality is God’s righteous judgment and Will shall prevail. May His righteousness be upon us as we live in accordance with His Will!
Have a great day VIEWING LIFE FROM GOD’S PERSPECTIVE!
