What is it that provides a sense of homeness; a place we like to spend as much time as possible for needed relaxation, rest, and renewal? For some it may be their whole home or perhaps a particular room such as a den to which they can retreat to read and relax away from the hecticness of life or even the rest of the house and its goings-on.
In consideration of this, it is not a cluttered room which will lend well to this and it is the same with our mind. As someone has said, “Your mind is where you stay most of the time, make sure it’s a good place to be.” (original source unknown) What marks our mind? Are we finding contentment with its content?
When the mind is a good place, it can help keep our life focus in a good place. However, cluttered and distracted by all the hubbub of life, a mind of unrest will not allow rest for the body or the life. What our mind tends to mull over can determine the difference between stillness or stress!
In his letter to the church at Philippi, Paul urged. . .
“(8) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (9) What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me — practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:8-9 ESV)
If what our mind tends to dwell on does not fall into one of those categories, some sweeping and tidying of that place needs to take place. May we work on our mind being a good place to go with the peace of God abiding there with us!
Have a great day EXPERIENCING PEACE OF MIND BY THE PEACE OF GOD!
