How do you feel about the idea of being used as a “guinea pig”? Maybe a good response would be, “It depends.” Perhaps if the tests being conducted could work toward saving the lives of others, there would be a willingness to participate in the trial. However — generally speaking — none of us probably like the idea of being used by someone else as a guinea pig.
The unfortunate truth is that this is happening every day in a manner not always duly noted. I don’t necessarily mean in a lab somewhere, but within our society at large. How many quickly accept the word of the “experts” and follow the trends and become themselves an unwitting participant in the testing? In recent years a number of psychologists and sociologists have apologized to society for the part they played in bringing about some of the challenges being faced today due to bad counsel previously offered.
There is the tried and true we have available. We know it and we need to live in a manner aiding the world in seeing the wisdom in what we believe and follow.
Consider several verses from one section of the 119th Psalm where we read. . .
“(137) Righteous are you, O Lord, and right are your rules. (138) You have appointed your testimonies in righteousness and in all faithfulness. . . . (140) Your promise is well tried, and your servant loves it. . . . (142) Your righteousness is righteous forever, and your law is true. . . . (144) Your testimonies are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live.” (Psalm 119:137-138, 140, 142, 144)
That’s all about God’s Word! It has stood the test of time! It is still the focus for today! It remains the dependable ideology for living! And it will always be so!
By living out God’s Will in a consistent manner, we will help those around us see the wisdom of God’s truth. We don’t have to fear being used as a guinea pig when we follow God’s Word. God knew the test results before He ever put His plan into action! May we live it so the world can see what leads to living the best life possible and have hope for eternal life to come!
