A LIFE ISSUE!

May 13, 2025 by Carl Hanson Leave a Comment

Having a healthy heart is a life issue. The function of the heart not only has an impact on our physical wellbeing, but also our mental state as it works to transport oxygen to the brain and the rest of the body. In a publication on heart health by the Harvard Medical School, it is stated, “The heart beats about 2.5 billion times over the average lifetime, pushing millions of gallons of blood to every part of the body. This steady flow carries with it oxygen, fuel, hormones, other compounds, and a host of essential cells. It also whisks away the waste products of metabolism. When the heart stops, essential functions fail, some almost instantly.”

Clearly, the heart is a significant organ of the body marvelously created by God. However, at the heart of the spiritual life is also the heart.

            Solomon exhorted. . .

“(23) Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23 ESV)

Though this was among teaching directed toward sons, it remains an issue throughout life. Guarding the heart’s focus is vital to the right relationship with God and the manner in which we go about life. If the heart is not right the life is not right!

Jesus also noted the significance of spiritual heart condition where we read. . .

“(34) You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. (35) The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil.” (Matthew 12:34-35 ESV)

Think of all the actions and words flowing from our life during a lifetime. May we daily seek God’s help in maintaining proper heart condition (i.e. Psalm 51:10) for living the life God desires us to live!

Have a great day LIVING AWARE OF OUR SPIRITUAL VITAL SIGNS!

Our Mission

Truth For Teens was originally a publication with a circulation of over 500 to youth throughout the United States.  This was possible because a group of men and women felt a need to provide healthy, helpful information to our youth as they deal with daily situations.

That need has not changed. The Central church of Christ at Pflugerville, Texas has decided to oversee this continuing, important ministry with this website and publication of a regular newsletter available to all teens around the world. We want the truth of God to be available as the “truth for teens” as well!
