In mathematics there are constants and variables. With a constant, the value remains the same and aids in coming to terms with the variable. The mathematical solution is in acknowledging the constant.
In life we also experience many variables. The weather changes and we find ourselves adjusting the planned activities for the day or perhaps select different clothing. Appointment times get changed and we find ourselves adjusting our schedule to work them in. People sometimes offer to help but then don’t show up for some reason and we find ourselves having to take on a task alone. We try to do what is right and people respond in unappreciative or unkind ways. Each of these reflect the variableness associated with life in this realm and we learn to get used to it as we just try to go with the flow. Unforeseen things arise and so we find ourselves constantly adjusting to changes outside our control. But is there a constant to acknowledge amidst it all?
When it comes to sustaining our spiritual life and the hope to which we can cling, there is a constant to which we can anchor our life. Remember the writer of Hebrew’s encouragement where we read. . .
“(8) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 ESV)
Praise God for the constant to which we can look; the constant which remains transcending life in this realm into the eternity to come. As He was engaged in the creation of yesterday (Hebrews 1:2; Colossians 1:16), continues as the intercessor on our behalf today (Hebrews 7:25; Romans 8:34), and is the provider of our eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12), an abiding hope of eternal life is assured in Him! (John 10:28) Because of the everlasting Christ, there is everlasting hope! God’s promises stand as they find their “yes” in Him! (2 Corinthians 1:20) Therefore, though we live in a changing world, let us hold to the unchanging Christ!
Have a great day WITH CONSTANT FAITH IN THE CONSTANT CHRIST!
Carl
