Worship. There are acts of it that we can engage in such as: participating in the Lord’s Supper, singing hymns and praises, giving generously, engaging together in prayer to God, listening to God’s Word as it is proclaimed, etc. However, have we set a time and place for worship that has limited what revealing the worth-ship of God is intended to be? Has worship become acts we go somewhere to do or do we possess an attitude of worship which goes much deeper than that?
Writing to Christians at Rome, Paul urged. . .
“(1) I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Romans 12:1 ESV)
The manner in which we live our life is to be as a living — ongoing — offering to God. Though we might agree it is easier by one act to die for a cause, we are to embrace the idea of ongoing sacrificial living for the cause of Christ. That requires endurance and takes perseverance. Our bodies are to be presented through life to God as instruments of righteousness. (Romans 6:13) We have been called to be holy in all our conduct as God is holy. (1 Peter 1:15-16) In this way our life can be maintained as a suitable offering to the One Who has given us life and the hope of it eternally.
As Paul spoke in the Areopagus in Athens, making known to them the One they noted as “unknown” (Acts 17:23), he stated. . .
“ (24) The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, (25) nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. (26) And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, (27) that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, (28) for ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed his offspring.’” (Acts 17:24-28 ESV)
Duly acknowledging God as our Maker and Giver of life ought to feed an ongoing attitude for living to please and glorify Him. The One Who gave us life is worthy of our life being lived daily for Him Who sustains it and is able to bring it into His eternal Heavenly presence! May His worth-ship to us be evident in the worshipful living of our daily life!
Have a great day LIVING LIFE TO GLORIFY THE GIVER OF IT!
