It has been said, “Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.” (A Japanese proverb quoted by Soichiro Honda, founder of the Honda Motor Company.)
What good is the pondering when there is no action upon it? But how dangerous can it be to also take action without giving it due consideration? Thinking without action and acting without thinking do not generally lead to blessing. As this would be true relative to success in business, it is also true relative to the business of living a spiritual life. Are we duly looking to God and His Word for the vision needed relative to day-to-day living?
James exhorted. . .
“(22) But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (23) For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. (24) For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. (25) But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” (James 1:22-25 ESV)
Some think they are living the dream but are deceiving themselves when neglecting to acknowledge God’s Will for their life. More than doing is to be sure we are doing the Lord’s Will. (note Matthew 7:21-23)
James also admonished. . .
“(17) So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” (James 4:17 ESV)
Based on the vision of God’s Word and the right we see we ought to be doing, let us so act. In this way we will be drawn into the blessing of the life God desires us to live and will duly glorify Him in the process!
Have a great day SEEING AND DOING AS GOD DESIRES!
