Someone has said, “No matter what yesterday was like, birds always start the new day with a song.” (original source unknown)
I have long loved the sound of birds chirping and singing their songs in the morning. It has always been a great sound to awaken to. God gave them their song and He is praised in it.
As I consider this, I must remain awake to Jesus’ clarity that the same Heavenly Father Who is mindful of the birds is also mindful of me. (Matthew 6:26) Did I arise this morning with a song (or thoughts) of praise and thanksgiving to God as I prepared to step into the new day He graciously provided? Regardless of what might have marked yesterday, was I moved to melodiously step into the new day with my trust in God to sustain me through it?
Though the times were challenging for the nation of Israel during the days of Jeremiah due to the unfaithfulness of the nation, I am struck that he could still state. . .
“(22) The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; (23) they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (24) “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”” (Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV)
Though this book contains much lamentation, this was not a lament. This was Jeremiah’s focus of trust in God regardless of what was going on around him. It was trusting hope that welled up from his very soul. God’s steadfast love! God’s unending mercy. God’s great faithfulness. All a part of each new day God brings me into. Yes, as the Lord of my life, I will hope in Him!
Have a great day MOVED BY GOD’S SONG IN THE SOUL!
