People have their own ideas regarding proper timing in helping others. Some would say, “Just as soon as they get their act together, I’ll help them out.” or “When they are willing to acknowledge I have something to offer, then I’ll join in to assist.” When one is not acknowledged or feels they have been snubbed, it is easy to return the same. Praise God He has not chosen to deal with us in like manner.
Paul pointed out. . .
“(6) For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. (7) For one will scarcely die for a righteous person — though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die — (8) but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (9) Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” (Romans 5:6-9 ESV)
Paul did not say Christ died for the good people. He didn’t say Jesus gave His life for the saints. It wasn’t for the righteous Paul said Jesus suffered a tortuous death. It was for the “ungodly”! God’s love was demonstrated in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for sinners like you and me!
Some might say that is the wrong time to love. Wouldn’t such love be an indication of acceptance or condonement? No! Such love, as demonstrated by God, provided the means of rescue from the dilemma of our guilt through the power of Christ’s blood. We accept that provision through belief in Him, a willingness to repent of ungodliness (note Titus 2:11-12), and in submission to baptism into Christ so that we can rise to live as a new creation to walk on as a child of God! (Romans 6:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:17)
What if God had waited for humanity to deserve such a provision as is ours in Christ? We would still be dead in our sins. (note 1 Corinthians 15:17) Though humanity still must duly respond, redemption’s price has been paid. Recognizing what God has already accomplished through Christ ought to compel an obedient response. May His grace for us not be extended in vain. (2 Corinthians 6:1) Rather, let us continue allowing His gracious gift to gain a proper response as we acknowledge His magnanimous love!
Have a great day APPRECIATING THE TIMING OF GOD’S LOVE!
