It is fun to watch our dog when something begins to get her attention. Her head pops up, her ears lift and turn toward the direction of the sound, and her nose begins to wiggle as she sniffs the air. Though she is getting old and does not get around as easily as she used to, there is nothing wrong with her ears. It is even difficult to quietly open the cupboard where some of her treats are kept without her hearing and hobbling into the room to see what we are getting. [As I reuse this focus, we presently have a dog with the same keen sense of hearing.]
At times, when someone is speaking to us and we want to make sure we hear them above all the other noises or voices that might be around us, we will cup an ear and turn it toward them. Such should be the case regarding anything worth hearing!
Solomon exhorted. . .
“(20) My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.” (Proverbs 4:20 ESV)
The reason given regarding the need for such attentiveness is that these words were “life to those who find them.” (Proverbs 4:22 ESV) God has spoken. His Word has been recorded. His mind has been revealed. His wisdom has been offered. Our life depends on having heard it. May we daily incline our ear to Him for it remains the message most worth hearing again and again!
Have a great day KEEPING BOTH EARS OPEN TO GOD’S WISDOM!
