As hard as you and I might try, we don’t always do things perfectly. However, though the best we can do should be our goal, if nothing but perfection was the requirement we would probably attempt to do very little. Let us remember God used imperfect people to fulfill significant functions. Moses, David, Peter, Paul, and every other individual we read of in the Scriptures who played some dynamic role to which they were Divinely called, still had their struggles. It was their willingness to allow God to do His work through them that made the difference despite their humanness. Let us be encouraged how it is the same for us.
Recently on my daily calendar was this prayer: “Dear Father, help me to remember that You ask us to be available, not perfect. Urge me on as I extend an uplifting hand to someone today who needs it. Amen.”
Though growing to be as our Heavenly Father is ought to be the aim — as Jesus even noted (Matthew 5:48) — in reality, we all fall short. Still, are we remaining available to be used in life to His glory?
Writing to Christians at Galatia, Paul urged. . .
“ (9) And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (10) So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10 ESV)
As opportunities to serve and do good arise, though we may not do so perfectly, we may still be the perfect one to do so simply because we are the one there in the moment. May we remain available as we avail ourselves to trusting God’s enabling us to serve to His glory!
Have a great day OPEN TO OPPORTUNITIES FOR GOD’S USE!
