Groping around in the dark, stumbling about, tripping over furniture, bruising shins, stubbing toes, and even falling down. If the power is not out, why not turn on the light? Is it that darkness is loved rather than the light? As strange (and dangerous) as it is to think this way physically, how much more so spiritually. (i.e. John 3:19) The Light has come. Light is available.
In Psalm 119 the psalmist declared. . .
“(105) Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105 ESV)
Those words acknowledge both the availability, and the utilizing of the Light God has provided. His Word shows the way to The Way illuminating the pathway to the Father. (John 14:6) Jesus — the Word become flesh (John 1:14) — even declared. . .
“(12) Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”” (John 8:12 ESV)
There is no need to be left groping and stumbling through life. The “true light” has come to give light to everyone who is willing to appreciate its availability. (John 1:9) It is in the light of God that we are given blessed assurance as John wrote. . .
“(7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7 ESV)
May we leave the darkness to walk in the light so this ongoing blessing can remain ours!
Have a great day WITH GOD’S WORD LIGHTING THE WAY!
Carl
