BAD AND GOOD NEWS!
“Which do you want first, the good news or the bad news?” When faced with such a question, is our choice to get the bad news out of the way first with the hope the good news will soften the blow? Bad news is not what we want to hear. Bad news is what we would like to stay away from. Bad news just isn’t good. However, with life in this realm it seems inevitable to have to face the variation of the good, the bad, and even the ugly. But regardless of the news, do we have a faith that remains stable?
Remember when Job received the bad news of multiple losses of both family and possessions. Though he was brought to deep sorrow, he still worshipped and blessed the Name of the Lord. (Job 1:20-21) Even in considering the hand of God in it — not knowing the involvement of Satan — this was the marvelous perspective he maintained. Job accepted what was and praised God anyway!
Some people live in fear of bad news. Though many things in life might be going well, they live with an anxiousness that some bad news might just be around the next corner. Is that our life perspective? Have we ever been there in our focus? Regardless of what goes on around us and even impacts our life in ways outside our control, are we remembering God remains God and the One in Whom our faith ought to continue resting?
In one of the Psalms we read. . .
“(6) For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. (7) He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. (8) His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.” (Psalm 112:6-8 ESV)
Regardless of bad news, that is the kind of faith I want. That is the kind of faith I need; a firm heart trusting steadfastly in God! Fear of bad news will neither stop it from coming nor keep it from occurring, but faith in God can sustain us through it! Understanding whatever happens in this life is only temporary, let us trust God’s Sovereign ability to work all things together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) That is the good news about bad news. May we keep worshipping Him and blessing His Name through the varied moments of life as we trust Him for the eternity He is ultimately leading us toward!
Have a great day KNOWING GOD STILL HOLDS THE GOOD NEWS!
