Some people move boldly through life with confidence in themselves; their own abilities and wisdom. The Scriptures declare that is not sufficient. (i.e. Jeremiah 10:23) Others move boldly through life with confidence in whom they are surrounded by; knowing they are not alone they step out with a trust in numbers. The Scriptures also point out the insufficiency of that. (i.e. Psalm 33:16-17) As we see Paul boldly and confidently carrying out his ministry even in the face of opposition and suffering, where was his focus?
In view of his ministry of sharing the gospel, writing to the church at Ephesus Paul noted his focus on the Lord in stating. . .
“(11) This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, (12) in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. (13) So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.” (Ephesians 3:11-13)
Even the manner in which Paul preached was such that the power of God and not mere human ability and wisdom would be evident. (note 1 Corinthians 2:1-5) It was never about self-sufficiency (note 2 Corinthians 3:5-6) but because of the Lord and the truth of salvation resting in Him that Paul was able to press on with boldness and confident faith! Trusting in the reality of God being for us (Romans 8:31), may our faith also continue to rest in Him so as to give us boldness for pressing on in faithfulness and service in accordance with His Will!
Have a great day KEEPING BELIEF IN GOD AS THE BASIS OF OUR BOLDNESS!
Carl
