The struggle of the flesh is real. Paul noted the experience of that struggle in the seventh chapter of his letter to Christians at Rome. This reveals why where we place our focus is so important. Paul went on to state. . .
โ(6) For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.โ (Romans 8:6 ESV)
As Paul continued to write, he noted that the mind focused on the flesh is actually hostile to God and cannot please Him. (Romans 8:7-8) When the mind continues to rest on the flesh, there continues to be distraction away from God. That is why, though we live in the flesh, we must acknowledge we were created to be not merely flesh but spiritual beings created after the likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27) and though marred by sin can be restored to that image in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Though Paul noted the wretchedness of the struggle with sin, he focused on the blessed deliverance that was his in Christ. (Romans 7:24-25) He then noted the present blessing in Christ in stating. . .
โ (1) There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.โ (Romans 8:1-2 ESV)
According to law we stand guilty as a law breakers, but in Christ we are set free through the law of the Spirit of life and are no longer viewed under condemnation. Let us keep our focus away from living according to the control of the flesh and live by the Spirit and so keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25) Christ was sent into this world to redeem us because we could not do that ourselves. May we live in Him and trust the Spirit at work in and through us!
Have a great day LIVING THE DELIVERED LIFE IN CHRIST!
