Life is full of surprises. We receive blessings from unexpected places. Things work out in unexplainable ways. Perhaps we marvel at what we consider coincidences. However, could they not be the provision of God? Are we ever like the one who while slipping off a roof cried out, “Help me God,” only to then quickly declare, “Never mind God. I’m caught on a nail.”? Is God our last resort when facing challenges and then the last to be considered in thanksgiving when things “just happen” to work out? Someone has said, “Trust God for the unexpected, and let Him surprise you by doing the unexplainable.” [source: bulletin clipping]
The unexpected and unexplainable. Are those not two glorious words to be associated with God? We have enough of a challenge figuring our own selves out to ever think we have God all figured out. All He does is good and righteous. We also know we do not deserve His blessings. Therefore, we should be all the more grateful for them.
In Paul’s letter to the church at Rome, he stated. . .
“(33) Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! (34) “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” (35) “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” (36) For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11:33-36 ESV)
The Greek word translated “inscrutable” is “anexichniastos” (“a”, is negative, with “ex” for “ek” which means “out”, and “ichnos” which means “a track”). According to Vine’s Expository Dictionary of N.T. Words it signifies “that cannot be traced out”. God’s ways are beyond tracing or completely figuring out. There is so much we cannot explain. That is just how great His wisdom and works are. However, we don’t have to understand to accept and be thankful to God for all He has done, is doing, and will do on our behalf. That is why He is deserving of all the glory both now and forever. Amen? Amen! Though we ought to be greatly encouraged by what we know of God, may we not worry about figuring Him out, but rather simply follow on in the way He leads.
Have a great day FOLLOWING THE ONE WHO TRULY DOES KNOW IT ALL!
