It has been expressed, “Life is full of making choices, doing things, and going places. What we have done, or need to get done, can keep our minds racing. We go about our day accomplishing tasks and try to squeeze it all in a life that is pleasing to God. Yet, do we stop long enough to ask God what He wants and what pleases Him?” (shared by Tom Green)
Can we relate? Every day I begin with a “To Do” list on my calendar. First listed is always my daily Scripture reading. It is the way I start each day regardless of how busy it might be. However, is it merely my list, or is it truly that which God wants and is pleasing to Him? Despite everything on my list being good, am I seeking the best of what God wants to fulfill in and through me in the day He has given?
Perhaps the most sobering reality is what Jesus Himself declared where we read. . .
“(21) Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (22) On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ (23) And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’” (Matthew 7:21-23 ESV)
“But I did this!” “But I accomplished that!” “But I exercised great power!” “But, Lord, I mentioned Your Name!” Can we hear that? The sobering reality Jesus brought to the forefront is that it is not merely about willingly speaking His good name and willingly doing good but rather seeking to be doing the Father’s Will! It is in this way we truly acknowledge Him in His Sovereignty and are then living a life acknowledged by the Lord!
Let us begin each day with prayer. Let us seek God’s guidance for engaging in that which is fully in accord with His Will. Much good may be done, but in seeking His Will above all will direct us in the “most goodest” (best) actions and direction in life to His glory and praise! May we seek foremost to acknowledge the Will that will bring His acknowledgment!
Have a great day EARNESTLY SEEKING TO DO GOD’S GOOD WILL!
