Psalm 119 is a marvelous piece of Hebrew literature written in an acrostic form we easily miss in our English translations. Beginning with the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, each succeeding eight stanza section begins with the following Hebrew letter with each verse of each section beginning with that letter. Though the style may seem restrictive in flow, what we find beautifully presented in this psalm is expression after expression relative to the significance of God’s law, testimonies, ways, precepts, statutes, commandments, rules, and word. Consider with me over the next few days the first section of this psalm.
As this psalm begins, we read. . .
“(1) Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!” (Psalm 119:1 ESV)
Such a blessed walk is where the collection of the book of Psalms begins. (Psalm 1) In the words of the psalm here is noted not a perfect individual, but the blameless one whose life walk is being based on the proper foundation as set forth by God. We do not go wrong when we seek to walk in His ways and according to His commands! Our walk will always be most blessed when it is in step with God’s Will. As we continue walking in His Way, it is His Will that will then be reflected more and more in our life. This is the goal of our recreation in Christ. (note 2 Corinthians 3:18) May our walk remain on God’s path so that His righteous will continues to be reflected in our life!
Have a great day KNOWING WITH GOD’S WAY WE WON’T GO WRONG!
