There are afflictions and challenges of life which can get us down. Are we still able to look up? Our attention can be caught by evil and injustice going on around us. Are we still able to press on? Though many things may not be as we would like them or even as they ought, are we reminding ourselves that is not the full picture? Or are we allowing life’s trials to take away our breath for living?
As God in the beginning breathed into man the “breath of life” (Genesis 2:7), He also offers His promises and word to breathe hope into our life. As one of the psalmists wrote. . .
“(49)Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope. (50) This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.” (Psalm 119:49-50 ESV)
In spite of affliction suffered, there was still comfort and hope because of the assurance and promises of God. Those promises breathed life into the life; provided a spirit to keep on keeping on.
In spite of the frailty we may feel in the flesh (i.e. 2 Corinthians 4:7), are we still maintaining a proper perspective (i.e. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9) able to lift up the focus of our spirit for living? In view of this, Paul encouragingly wrote. . .
“(16) So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. (17) For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, (18) as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ESV)
There is much more than meets the eye! The afflictions and trials of this realm are momentary compared to the eternal glory yet to come. May we continue taking God at His Word and so allow His promises to continue breathing hope into our life as we press on toward the eternal glory prepared for us!
Have a great day BREATHING IN THE PROMISES OF GOD’S WORD AND LIVING ON!
