Though there are various ways in which loads can be carried, in viewing pictures from around the world we find those who seem to easily carry large loads on their head or on their shoulders. Through practice, these have developed the skill of balancing a load and the stamina to carry it long distances. However, that still does not mean the load has been lightened. The same is true with life as someone has said, “Just because someone carries it well, doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy.” (original source unknown)
Dealing with heavy stuff in life can really throw us off balance. When others appear to carry life’s load well, it can cause one to question their own faith when they feel they are struggling. There are also times when bearing a heavy burden may give rise to questioning God’s mindfulness and also whether or not others around them care. Certainly, there are things we cannot completely lift from others, but we can encourage them as we come alongside them on life’s journey and do what we can to help.
Writing to Christians at Galatia, Paul urged. . .
“ (2) Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2 ESV)
The Greek here refers to that which would be an overload. In helping others to bear up under such a burden, we are lovingly fulfilling the law of Christ. (i.e. John 13:34; 1 John 4:21) As we consider the load our Lord has lifted from us, may we remain willing to assist others around us. Willing to assist others is a well carried out life!
Have a great day BEING A LOVING LOAD ASSISTER!
Carl
