Who may dwell with God? David noted the character of such as one. . .
“. . .who swears to his own hurt and does not change;” (Psalm 15:4c ESV)
The context here deals with an oath or promise. It is so easy to commit to something on the spur of the moment. However, is it as easy to follow through? It has amazed me how easy it is for some to tell me they will do something and then not follow through. How much of a sense of accountability do we feel regarding commitments made?
Jesus noted those who seemed to play games regarding commitments made. (note Matthew 23:16-22 & Mark 7:9-13) David, on the other hand, noted one who — even if his oath was made rashly — had enough character to honor it. This is the person whose word can be counted upon. This is the person who has enough stability they can be depended upon. May we refresh those around us through living as persons of our word. After all, aren’t we glad God is true to His?
Have a great day KNOWN AS ONE WHO FOLLOWS THROUGH!
Carl
