Do we have concerns about life? Are we struck by evil that continues to arise in the world around us? Does it make us wonder about God and when He will declare enough is enough? Though the concerns ought to draw us into sincere prayer, have we become so anxious that we have lost any sense of hopefulness?
One of the psalmists wrote. . .
“(19) When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.” (Psalm 94:19 ESV)
In the midst of many cares resting on the heart, what consolations are there to cheer the soul? Consider what this psalmist noted in this same chapter even as he expressed concern over how long the wicked would exult. (vs.3) One consolation was in understanding the reality God is fully aware of everything going on around us and within us. (vss.8-11) Another consolation was in remembering the support God had already provided (vss.16-18) and therefore encouragement to trust in its continuance. God was even remembered as a personal stronghold and refuge (vss.22) in spite of the wicked banding together for evil. (vss.20-21) A final consolation mentioned by the psalmist was the realization God would ultimately bring His judgment on the wicked. (vs.23)
Life cares are real! They can weigh upon us! Being concerned about what goes on around us means we have a heart touched by injustice and wrong taking place. To greatly care about what is right is good! However, let us also be of cheer that God knows as we trust Him to handle all things in His time and in His way according to His Sovereign wisdom! May we rest our eternal hope in Him!
Have a great day EXPERIENCING GOD’S SOVEREIGN SOLACE FOR THE SOUL!
