CLOSE FOLLOWING!

March 14, 2024 by Carl Hanson

“If You Can Read This You Are Following Too Close.” “The Closer You Get The Slower I Drive.” “Sorry For Driving So Close In Front Of You.” “Back Off!” Perhaps, like me, you have seen these and perhaps some rather crude statements on the back of vehicles conveying the message they do not like tailgaters.

Recently I saw one I had not seen before which read, “Do You Follow JESUS This Close?” Now, there is a thought provoking one. Would we agree it is actually something to which we should be drawn close to consider? If we are drawn close to anything, should it not be to the Christ, the Savior of the World?

We need to understand how Jesus noted what it means to be His disciple where we read. . .

“(23) And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23 ESV)

Following Jesus must begin with a willingness to get self out of the way. We need to grow to understand that if He has not become Lord of all, He is not Lord at all over our life.

Consider also what Jesus stated where we read. . .

“(12) Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12 ESV)

As Jesus is the Light of the world, the closer we are drawn to Him the more in His light we will be. Let us follow Him! Let us follow Him closely; His example, His teachings, His steps, His Sovereign Will! He doesn’t mind. It is what He desires of us! He will not tell us to back off!

In following Jesus, we remain in the sphere of the light of life that illuminates the pathway into the eternity He went to prepare. May we keep following closely each step of the way!

Have a great day FOLLOWING CLOSELY IN THE STEPS OF OUR SAVIOR!

Our Mission

Truth For Teens was originally a publication with a circulation of over 500 to youth throughout the United States.  This was possible because a group of men and women felt a need to provide healthy, helpful information to our youth as they deal with daily situations.

That need has not changed. The Central church of Christ at Pflugerville, Texas has decided to oversee this continuing, important ministry with this website and publication of a regular newsletter available to all teens around the world. We want the truth of God to be available as the “truth for teens” as well!
