Sometimes the manner in which we dress influences the manner in which we act and walk. Though it may happen among small children, generally when we get dressed up, we are not likely to go out and tumble on a football field or take a hike through a swamp. Those are activities for our grubby clothes. Depending on what we have chosen to put on, we will act and even walk in certain ways. Therefore, what we are venturing out to be involved in usually determines the way we will dress. The difference may also be determined by whether it is day or night. However, when we consider the manner in which we live our life as a Christian, do we maintain the focus on what is fitting for the clothing of the day?
In Paul’s letter to the church at Rome, he urged. . .
“(12) The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. (13) Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. (14) But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.” (Romans 13:12-14 ESV)
Are we remaining dressed for righteous living? As we approach each day, have we put on the clothing of darkness or that of the light? Day or night we live in full view of God. Day or night there ought to be consistency in the choices we make. Dressed in Jesus means we ought to live in accordance with His desires. May Christ therefore be the clothing for every day!
Have a great day WEARING THE LORD FOR ALL OCCASIONS!
Carl
