It may amaze us at times what children will suddenly blurt out in the midst of life situations regardless of who might be present. Sometimes it is shear innocent honesty, but other times it is complete nonsense. As we grow up, is it with a presence of mind to give due restraint to our own comments and opinions? When there is something that needs no saying, do we tend to say it anyway or are we learning to control the urge?
A friend and brother in Christ recently posted, “Maturity is realizing how many things do not require our opinion.” This has also been phrased, “Maturing is realizing how many things don’t require a comment.”
Solomon wrote. . .
“(2) A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.” (Proverb 18:2 ESV)
The wisdom of understanding can be revealed in making no comment. The more we mature the less we may see we need to say. Taking pleasure in understanding this can lead toward more pleasant conversations. May we therefore consider our comments and the course on which they may take a conversation!
Have a great day CONSIDERING BLESSING RATHER THAN BOUNTY OF OUR WORDS!
