Considering the expression “whatever” not dismissively or permissively, but rather comprehensively in our life linked to the Lord, are we properly feeding our focus? On what are we centering our thoughts? From what thinking are we linking our activity and life progression? Are we focused on what is comprehensively righteous so as to compel ongoing godly living?
Writing to the church at Philippi, Paul urged. . .
“(8) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8 ESV)
The Greek word translated “whatever” here is “hosa”, which denotes “as much as” and means “whatsoever things”. What Paul listed were focuses characteristic of feeding faith and godly living. Rather than stinking thinking which would lead to a putrid life, such thinking as Paul noted here will inspire our life worship toward the Lord. These are focuses which will lead us into serving others as serving the Lord. These are focuses which will nurture a pure heart. Comprehensively speaking, if we have thoughts not falling into one of those categories, we ought to dispel them! Therefore, may we continue to think about these things!
Have a great day CONCENTRATING COMPREHENSIVELY WITH A HEAVENLY MINDSET!
