“Confession is good for the soul” is noted as an old Scottish proverb. Humbly admitting our sins — duly acknowledging them for what they are — is a healthy step into the healing forgiveness God is willing to provide. It was even part of David’s experience as he was pained in his silence but found healing in the forgiveness he received in confessing his sin to God. (Psalm 32:1-5) Have we also experienced this blessing of relief deep within?
In view of our Lord, we should rejoice at the power of His blood to adequately deal with our sins as John encouraged. . .
“(7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (8) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:7-9 ESV)
Yes, in our relationship with the Lord we can experience how truly good confession is because of the willingness of our Lord to provide the forgiveness we need. As deep as sin can be rooted in the life, so can be the healing of our soul as we confess and turn from sin to accept the full forgiveness God provides. May we trust the adequacy of the power of Christ’s blood to fully cleanse us as we also trust in His faithfulness to forgive!
Have a great day KNOWING THE CONFESSION THAT LEADS TO THE CURE!
