I find listening to the sound of a trickling stream or waves lapping the shore to be very therapeutic. It is a wonderful aspect of God’s creation I truly enjoy both audibly and visually. Recently while looking out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Clallam Bay, I was intrigued in watching the sea waves rolling in to be met by the waves of a stream. Moving in opposite directions, the waves of each curled as they pushed against each other. This caused my mind to begin thinking of the amazing thing I was witnessing. Rivers of fresh water flow into the ocean and do so despite the pushback they meet. And all the water in the ocean cannot keep that fresh water from flowing in. Though the ocean is bigger and its waves seem more powerful, the refreshing waters traveling from mountains above make their way into that salty mass.
So, it is with God’s love and truth. Though there are waves of pushback from the masses of the world, God’s love and truth have flowed into it from above. As vehemently as the world may fight against this presence, God’s love and truth stream in to have His intended impact. (i.e. Isaiah 55:10-11)
John wrote. . .
“(9)In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” (1 John 4:9 ESV)
Because of love, God sent His life-giving Son from above and because of love the Son gave His life on our behalf to give us abundant life now and eternal life to come. The refreshing impact of that love and truth continue to bring blessing to the lives of the penitent (i.e. Acts 3:19-20) who allow the Divine intent to flow into their life.
In introducing the Messiah in his Gospel, John stated. . .
“(9) The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. (10) He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. (11) He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. (12) But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, (13) who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:9-13 ESV)
Though the refreshing love and truth of God has come into the world through the Son, it has been and continues to be rejected by many. In spite of the presence of God’s love and truth existing in this world, there remain those who are perishing because they refuse to love the truth and so be saved. (2 Thessalonians 2:10) Still, God’s love and truth continue to flow from above to bring refreshment and renewal to the lives who will receive it. As we duly acknowledge God’s great love for us and accept the truth as it is in Jesus (Ephesians 4:21), may we encourage others to acknowledge the One from Whom the greatest blessings flow!
Have a great day BLESSED BY THE DIVINE FLOW FROM ABOVE!
