As life moves forward as a continuum of time — understanding we cannot change the past but continue moving from it — we are to be mindful of not reverting to past practices which were not good but to continue in focusing on pressing on into better things. What we focus most on is going to make a dynamic difference in what marks our moving forward.
Someone has said, “Bible verses will save you from spiritual reverses.” [source: “1600 Squibs And Quips”, compiled by E.C. McKenzie]
Such reversals — going back to the old life — are noted in Scripture in a repulsive way. (note 2 Peter 2:20-22) That is not the context in which we would want to live life. Therefore, what we most focus on and how we maintain that focus is of utmost importance in moving forward in life.
One of the psalmists wrote. . .
“(9) How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. (10) With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! (11) I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:9-11 ESV)
Are we holding in our heart the verses to keep us from spiritual reverses? Whether young or old or anywhere in between, this ought to be seen as a foundational principle for daily living. Therefore, in the continuum of life may we continue in seeking and following the Will of God Who is daily drawing us nearer the eternity He desires us to share!
Have a great day IN GOD’S CONTINUUM OF CHRISTIAN LIVING!
