The Bible is replete with internal evidences of inspired writings. Historical records introduce us to rulers of nations spoken of throughout the scriptures. Sixty-six books were written by some forty different men over a period of sixteen hundred years. Written in different languages and from different countries, and in different time, the books harmonize because the authors were under the direction of the Holy Spirit of God.
If the books were forgeries, would we have known that Peter denied the Lord three times? Would the facts that the apostles fell asleep in Gethsemane and that they ran away when Christ was arrested be known? Who would think it necessary to tell us events like the woman wiping Jesus’ feet with her hair; Rhoda running to tell of Peter’s knock without first letting him in; Paul sending for his books and coat; the linen cloth that had been around the Savior’s head lying apart from the shroud?
Through the early centuries, history records people and events written about in the Bible. Rulers and emperors have tried to destroy the truths of the Bible. Even today people continue to deny its authority. For centuries people have tried to destroy the Bible, yet it continues at the top of the “best seller” list.
Sancitfy them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17
May God bless you in all of your effort to defend His truth.
