How do we defend the truth against charismatic teachings? What are charismatic teachings? They include the working of signs and miracles even today. The scriptures below refute these teachings:
The Bible warns of delusions and lying wonders: Matthew 24:24; 2 Timothy 3:13; Revelation 13:13
The design of Jesus’ miracles was to confirm that He was from God: Matthew 11:2-6; John 2:23; John 3:1-2; John11:45; Acts 2:22.
Once written in scripture, signs produced faith just as if witnessed: John 20:30-31.
The Bible account of Jesus’ miracles is sufficient to declare He is the Son of God: Romans 1:4; John 20:30-31
The baptism of the Spirit was limited to the Apostles: John 14:26; John 16:13; Acts 1:2-5; Acts 1:26 with Acts 2:1-4, tracing pronouns to “apostles.”
In Acts 1:15, only the Apostles, not the 120, got the baptism of the Spirit: Acts 1:26 through Acts 2:4; Acts 2:14
Spiritual gifts were used to confirm the Word, and it was called “confirmed” in the 1st Century: Mark 16:20; Hebrews 2:3
Spiritual gifts came through the laying on of the Apostles’ hands, and since there are no apostles today, spiritual gifts are not passed on and have now ceased: Acts 8:18; Acts 19:1-7; Romans 1:11; 2 Timothy 1:6; 1 Corinthians 13:8 No man can meet the qualifications of an apostle today, Acts 1:21-22.
In the Bible, tongues were languages; they were not ecstatic utterances: Acts 2:4 with Acts 2:6; Acts 2:8 with Acts 2:11

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name: and in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23
