Being well dressed can make us feel good. However, we can be finely dressed and still be naked before God as His eyes see us as we truly are! (Hebrews 4:13) Therefore, though due consideration is given to the manner in which we choose our clothing, even more important is the serious consideration relative to how we are clothed spiritually; that which should encourage us and make us feel very good.
In Isaiah we read. . .
“(10) I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” (Isaiah 61:10 ESV)
Garments of salvation and the robe of righteousness. That is what God provides from His wardrobe. How wonderful, since left to our own selves, even our righteous actions are like a “polluted garment” (Isaiah 64:6 ESV) or “but filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6 NLT) To be clothed with the salvation and righteousness of God, we not only should feel good, but know we also look good to God Who has provided such a blessing.
Writing to Christians at Galatia, Paul stated. . .
“(27) For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” (Galatians 3:27 ESV)
Again, this is a provision from God. Having entered into Christ through baptism we put on Christ and being so adorned we look very good to the Father. Having taken off the attire associated with the old self (note Colossians 3:9) and having put on the new self “after the image of its creator” (Colossians 3:10), the spiritual adornment of our life bears the qualities of the godliness with which God intends us to be clothed. (Colossians 3:12-14) Is the beauty of Christ remaining evident in the manner in which we live our life? There is no finer dress than being clothed in Christ and the salvation provided through Him!
Have a great day CLOTHED FROM GOD’S WARDROBE!
