When we consider what we ought to wear, generally what is chosen has to do with either what kind of activity is being attended or being involved in. It is the activity or the occasion which dictates the choice. My personal range is from work pants for mowing the lawn, slacks and button up shirt for in at the office and engaging in the community, generally a suit and tie for Sunday mornings, and either tuxedo shirt and tie with black suit or all black for performing in symphony concerts. Getting those mixed up would cause me to be viewed as either overdressed or underdressed and therefore stand out among others. Dressed to fit the occasion then does not draw the attention too much to self but allows the blending in with others so suitably dressed.
When it comes to living our life, what marks the manner of our dress? Someone has said, “Anyone all wrapped up in themselves, is overdressed.”
Writing to Christians at Colossae, Paul urged. . .
“(12) Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,” (Colossians 3:12 ESV)
One aspect of our Christian wardrobe is to be that of humility. This allows us to interact with one another in a beneficial and God glorifying way. All wrapped up in ourselves will not lend toward due mindfulness of one another. May we therefore adorn ourselves from God’s closet as we prepare to step out into the encounters and tasks of each day He provides!
Have a great day DRESSED FOR GLORIFYING GOD AND BENEFITTING OTHERS!
