Our education! What is it’s source? Where are we looking to gain it? From what or whom are we learning what is needed for life?
In a prophecy regarding the humbling and humiliation of Babylon, we read. . .
“(8) Now therefore hear this, you lover of pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me; I shall not sit as a widow or know the loss of children”: (9) These two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day; the loss of children and widowhood shall come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and the great power of your enchantments. (10) You felt secure in your wickedness; you said, “No one sees me”; your wisdom and your knowledge led you astray, and you said in your heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me.”” (Isaiah 47:8-10 ESV)
Though God had used Babylon as His arm of punishment to regain the attention of Israel, Babylon thought they had gained a sovereign status by their own wisdom. The nation’s wisdom led them to think no one could take them down; there was no other power like theirs. However, God — the truly Sovereign One — noted their wisdom and knowledge had led them astray! Because Babylon proudly defied the Lord she would be repaid according to her deeds. (Jeremiah 50:29) Babylon would be humbled and brought down.
Human wisdom and knowledge leading astray! Is that not the way of the wisdom of the world? We live in a world that says, “I don’t need religion” or “I don’t need God” or “I don’t need God’s Word”. Yet in a world driven by human desire and human wisdom, where has it gotten humanity? Conflicts continue, problems persist, and wickedness wreaks havoc in this world and in individual lives.
Paul warned Timothy. . .
“(3) For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, (4) and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV)
Such has long continued to manifest itself and so lead to more confusion, trial, and tribulation in this realm. Though it impacts physically, it is a spiritual battle with the sovereign wisdom of God being rejected in the pursuit of other ways. Would we not agree we live in a very confused world? It is God Who is “the Lord, and there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:5-6 & 18) It is His Divine Wisdom we need and should seek!
By inspiration, Peter declared. . .
“(3) His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, (4) by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” (2 Peter 1:3-4 ESV)
Yes, God has provided what we need to get us where He wants us. May we continue seeking the knowledge and wisdom from above (read the contrast in James 3:13-18) and so be not led astray, but rather in The Way (John 14:6) of God!
Have a great day RECEIVING THE HIGHER EDUCATION OF GOD!
