How often do we look at ourselves and wonder what difference we as one alone or we as a few among many can make? Sometimes the difference we are making is not immediately seen by us, but let us not underestimate the value of our individual faithfulness to God and its potential to impact the lives of those around us. Even the presence of ten righteous individuals (Genesis 18:32) would have been enough for the sparing of Sodom, Gomorrah and the surrounding cities. And even during the days of Jeremiah we read. . .
“(1) Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, look and take note! Search her squares to see if you can find a man, one who does justice and seeks truth, that I may pardon her. (2) Though they say, “As the Lord lives,” yet they swear falsely.” (Jeremiah 5:1-2 ESV)
Does that not imply the significance one would have made? Solomon also noted the significance of one man sharpening another (Proverbs 27:17) and even having seen a city saved through the wisdom of one poor man even though he was not remembered for having done so. (Ecclesiastes 9:13-16) In wisely living in faithfulness to God we may not always receive acknowledgement for our impact in this world, but we are in fact serving God’s purposes of salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) of which we have been called to be. Wherever we are there is potential for impacting the lives of a single individual or many as we continue walking in faithfulness to God as His influencing power works in and through us. (note Philippians 2:13) Therefore, regardless of what may be happening around us, may we resolve to remain faithful to God and His Will!
Have a great day KNOWING ONE WITH GOD IS SUFFICIENT!
