Sightseeing is great. However, we can become so absorbed in looking at all that is around us that we stumble and fall. When driving somewhere my wife will sometimes tell me, “I’ll look. You drive.” What she is telling me is to keep my eyes on the road ahead.
Solomon exhorted. . .
“(25) Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. (26) Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. (27) Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.” (Proverbs 4:25-27 ESV)
Just as important as watching where we are going is in a physical sense, it is also of paramount significance spiritually. We must be wise about the way we have chosen. Our eyes need to be kept on the goal so we are not sidetracked and lose our way. In the way God has called us to walk, we are not to veer off to the right or left, but remain on course.
Jesus is “The Way”. (John 14:6) Let us keep “looking to Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2 ESV); eyes remaining fixed on Him. By so doing our moral compass heading will keep us on the right path, enabling us to safely reach our final destination!
Have a great day MAINTAINING A FORWARD FOCUS!
