Though stuffing the face may seem pleasurable at the time, if we are stuffing ourselves too much or with the wrong things our stomach is likely to grumble about it later. Our face will then reveal the discomfort we are experiencing.
When our life is being properly fed emotionally, intellectually, and especially spiritually, that too will be revealed by our face. Both a grateful and a grumbling disposition will have their own impact on the face’s expression. Though life has its challenges, our outlook is going to determine our face look.
It has been noted, “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” (Raold Dahl, via goodreads)
Solomon wrote. . .
“(13)A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed. (14) The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly. (15) All the days of the afflicted are evil, but the cheerful of heart has a continual feast.” (Proverbs 15:13-15 ESV)
The heart fed with glad thoughts will feed the cheerful face. Living life focused on a knowledge of God and His Word will bring to mind the assurances of God able to feed a positive attitude toward life. It is the healthiness of the inner self that brings radiant joy to the face. Solomon noted that is the heart that has a continual feast. May we be so fed!
Have a great day OF GOOD CHEER!
