FOCUS FACTOR!

October 15, 2025 by Carl Hanson

Anyone can point out problems; it is energy and thought put into finding solutions that is most beneficial. As this is true in a group environment relative to productivity, it is also true individually when it comes to our mindset for living.

It has been said, “Focus on the solution, not the problem.” (attributed to Jim Rohn) As a life truth, this has been expanded to note, “When you focus on problems, you get more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you have more opportunities.” The truth here is that where we choose to rest our focus makes a huge difference in our ability to move forward in better ways. Rather than cycling through one problem after another, when the possibilities are prayerfully considered despite the problems, other opportunities can begin to come into view. Instead of a problem being seen as a wall to stop us, it may be the very door to move through for greater growth, strengthening, and also opportunity for our faith in God to shine even brighter as we are seen to trust Him to see us through.

Consider Paul’s perspective where we read. . .

“(12) I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, (13) so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. (14) And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.” (Philippians 1:12-14 ESV)

Consider what Paul noted here. That which appeared to be a hindrance (his imprisonment) was what he saw as serving to advance the Gospel and encourage others to more boldly sharing it. Rather than being discouraged, Paul focused on honoring Christ in his body whether it be by life or by death. (Philippians 1:20) As he continued pressing on toward the goal of the upward call of God in Christ (Philippians 3:13-14), he trusted in the strength of the Lord regardless of what his circumstances might have been. (Philippians 4:11-13) Therefore, regardless of what it is we may be facing or going through, may we factor in the faith as we fix our focus on the One Who is fully able to deliver us into the eternity prepared for us!

Have a great day FOCUSED ON THE SOVEREIGN SOLUTION ABOVE!

Our Mission

Truth For Teens was originally a publication with a circulation of over 500 to youth throughout the United States.  This was possible because a group of men and women felt a need to provide healthy, helpful information to our youth as they deal with daily situations.

That need has not changed. The Central church of Christ at Pflugerville, Texas has decided to oversee this continuing, important ministry with this website and publication of a regular newsletter available to all teens around the world. We want the truth of God to be available as the “truth for teens” as well!
