The circumstances and situations we face in life can vary greatly and so can their impact on our life focus. Some things are easier to move through or around than others. However, as we strive to press on, the direction we face is important, so we do not find ourselves lost in the shadow of despair but continue to glimpse the rays of hope that remain.
It has been said, “Keep your face always toward the sunshine — and shadows will fall behind you.” (Walt Whitman) As we understand this truth physically, let us be even more so encouraged by it spiritually. Are we keeping our face toward the Son — our Lord Jesus Christ — so as to leave the shadows of despair, doubt, and regret behind?
In view of all the heroes and heroines of faith (Hebrews 11) encouraging us onward through the arena of life’s challenges, the writer of Hebrews urged. . .
“(1)Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, (2) looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV)
As we continue pressing on in life toward the finish line into the eternal presence of our Lord, may we keep our focus fixed forward toward Him!
Have a great day CONTINUING TO PRESS ON IN JESUS, THE LIGHT!
