Again, in Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he urged. . .
“(1) First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, (2) for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. (3) This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, (4) who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4 ESV)
The Greek word translated “prayers” is “proseuche” which denotes prayer to God. Though “deesis” has been used in requests of other humans, “proseuche” is only used in connection with approaching God.
It has been noted “There are certain needs which only God can satisfy. There are certain needs which can only be brought to Him. There is a strength which He alone can give; a forgiveness which He alone can grant; a certainty which He alone can bestow.” [William Barclay, p.66]
Before others in life, we may not have a prayer. However, with God we find an open door to prayer at any time and from wherever we might be. This is why we can live with a spirit of unceasingly pray (1 Thessalonians 5:17) as we go about our daily life. Therefore, as others come to mind, let us pray on their behalf to the One Who knows all and is fully able to provide whatever is needed!
Have a great day OF INCESSANT PRAYER FOR OTHERS!
