James urged. . .
“(7) Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. (8) You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” (James 5:7-8 ESV)
As those of that region would sow with the coming of the autumn rains and harvest after the spring rains, so James urged his readers to consider the present time of patience regarding the fruit of their eternal salvation. As there are things of this temporal realm which cannot be rushed, so it is with some things relative to the spiritual realm. And as the timing of the Lord’s coming has not been revealed (Matthew 24:36), God has fixed a day for judgment (Acts 17:31) but is presently patiently providing opportunity for repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) As we then live prepared for whenever the Lord’s coming will be, let us acknowledge patience is not only a virtue, but is also a necessity, as well as a God-like characteristic. Therefore, as we live patiently prepared, may we encourage others to do the same while there remains the opportunity to do so!
Have a great day LIVING WITH PATIENT EXPECTATION FOR THE FULL FRUITION OF OUR HOPE IN CHRIST!
