When food is being dished out or something is being poured, sometimes the server will say, “Say when.” There are times when the response is, “Keep it coming”, especially for one who enjoys an all you can eat buffet.
Heaping helpings and cups running over are sometimes expressions relative to good things in life. This should be especially true in view of the blessings of God. Are we guilty at times of taking them for granted or are we living ever thankful for His ongoing provision? From Him through Christ we have abundant grace (Romans 5:17), abundant comfort (2 Corinthians 1:5), and even action on our behalf “far more abundantly” than we might imagine or think (Ephesians 3:20). Regardless of what else might be on our plate, acknowledging all God’s mindfulness toward us and His bountiful provision ought to fill us with an abiding hope!
In Paul’s letter to the church at Rome, he stated. . .
“(13) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13 ESV)
This was Paul’s prayer for Christians at Rome. It is God Who offers a steadfast hope in which our soul can be securely anchored (Hebrews 6:19) as we go through life in this realm. That hope is based on the steadfast love of God. (i.e. Psalm 147:11) Because of that abiding hope we can be filled with joy and peace as we move through life’s varied scenes with a hope that continues to abound toward us. Let us therefore keep looking to Jesus as the assurance of our eternal hope to “keep it coming” in abundance. Holding to that hope, the day will come that we will finally say “when” because we will have fully received it in His Heavenly presence! May the joy and peace of this abiding hope remain in us!
Have a great day ABOUNDING IN HOPE!
Carl
