Someone has defined genuine faith as being “assuring, insuring, and enduring.” Is that what our faith has come to mean to us?
Are we experiencing the assurance of faith? This rests at the core of the essence of genuine faith!
The writer of the Hebrew letter stated it this way:
“(1) Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1 ESV)
Genuine faith has an assurance that has deep roots. It is a calming faith in the midst of life’s storms. Someone has said, “Fear knocked. Faith answered. No one was there.” [source: bulletin one-liners] Do we feel the peace of such assurance?
Genuine faith is that which accepts God’s promises and considers them to be as good as done. Yet it is a faith in which we are to continue to grow. It is a faith which continually draws us nearer to the God in whom we are to have placed our complete trust.
Earlier, the writer of Hebrews had encouraged. . .
“(19) Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, (20) by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, (21) and since we have a great priest over the house of God, (22) let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:19-22 ESV)
Have a great day BOLSTERED BY AN ASSURING FAITH!
