Someone has said, “Sometimes our circumstances don’t add up to the dream we have envisioned, but that never means God isn’t with us.” (original source unknown)
Consider this in view of the life of Joseph. He had a dream. (Genesis 37:5-7) Actually, Joseph had two dreams. (Genesis 37:9-10) Did he understand what they meant? Did they become his life pursuit? Or do we see Joseph as one who went through the twists and turns of his journey with a trust remaining with God?
Though there was a plan in the mind of God that was not fully known to Joseph, what marked the varied moments of the journey of his life? How did the dream look when he was placed in a pit by his brothers? (Genesis 37:23-24) What marked the focus for such a dream when sold to Ishmaelites on their way to Egypt? (Genesis 37:28) How realistic did the dream appear when Joseph was serving in Potiphar’s house? (Genesis 39:1-6) And having been falsely accused (Genesis 39:18), what was to be made of any possibility for the realization of the dream when placed in prison? (Genesis 39:20)
Stephen — when providing somewhat of a history lesson for those who opposed his teaching about Jesus — noted the reality for Joseph in stating. . .
“(9) And the patriarchs, jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt; but God was with him (10) and rescued him out of all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who made him ruler over Egypt and over all his household.” (Acts 7:9-10 ESV)
Yes, despite the circumstances, God was with Joseph. That was even noted in the account of his life (Genesis 39: 2, 21, & 23) and acknowledged by Potiphar as well. (Genesis 39:3) And though Joseph was not spared the afflictions or trials he experienced, he was delivered or rescued from them in God’s time and in God’s way.
On our own life journey, we may wonder. On our own journey, we may at times question. However, though our vision might be skewed due to circumstances of the moment, let us not think God has abandoned us. Let us continue trusting God for the strength to sustain through life’s varied situations and believe He is fully able to bring us through to where He wants us. What He has in mind is often more marvelous that we might have imagined. (1 Corinthians 2:9) May we continue trusting in the One Who knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10) and is fully aware of all going on in our life!
Have a great day TRUSTING GOD REMAINS WITH US!
