As we noted yesterday, understanding God’s Divine Will has our utmost benefit in mind, are we remaining open to seeking His Will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven? (Matthew 6:10) Are we desiring for His Will to be done in and through our own life? Then, even in the challenging moments of life, are we surrendering to His Will being ultimately carried out? If so, those moments should include ongoing thanksgiving regardless of circumstances.
Writing to Christians at Thessalonica, Paul urged. . .
“(16) Rejoice always, (17) pray without ceasing, (18) give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV)
Giving thanks “in all circumstances.” That may not be the inclination at times, but Paul stated it “is the will of God” for us; it is what He desires us to do as we reveal we do truly trust His power to sustain us and bring us through life’s varied scenes. Retaining a spirit of joy based on the assurances of God and continuing in unceasing prayer to Him ought to provide much occasion for mindfulness of that for which we can still give thanks. Even in the toughest moments we can be thankful it is not worse!
So, how can we be thankful “in all circumstances”? By remembering it is not the circumstance of the moment that either defines our life or limits God’s ability. Trustingly pressing on through life’s most challenging moments reveals the character of our faith and glorifies God in our reliance on His ability to work all things out for good (Romans 8:28) in His way and in His time. May our life be marked by “thanksliving” to God as the greater circumstance of our life is acknowledged as being in the blessed sphere of the redemption and eternal hope in Christ Jesus!
Have a great day FULFILLING GOD’S WILL OF THANKSGIVING!
