What is does not have to be explained to be accepted. What is, can stand on its own whether it can be fully described or not. To the Greek mind that struggled with concepts of the supernatural, Paul dealt at length with the validity of the resurrection of the Lord and how that is the basis of the hope of our own. (1 Corinthians 15) That reality is key to our faith (1 Corinthians 15:16-19) and at the core of the Gospel message as Paul wrote. . .
“(1) Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, (2) and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. (3) For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, (4) that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 ESV)
Someone has said, “The Gospels do not explain the resurrection; the resurrection explains the Gospels. Belief in the resurrection is not an appendage to the Christian faith; it is the Christian faith.” (John S. Whale)
The reality of Jesus’ resurrection was the powerful declaration of Who He was (is); the Son of God. (Romans 1:3) And the Gospel (good news) of Jesus is that we have a living hope by His resurrection of the dead. (1 Peter 1:3) How and in what type of body we will be raised may not be explainable (note 1 Corinthians 15:35-44), but the reality of His assures us of ours regardless of how mysterious it may be. (1 Corinthians 15:51-57) As we hold firmly to the truth of Jesus, our believing will not be in vain! May we therefore accept what is (the truth of the Lord’s resurrection) as we fully trust what is to come!
Have a great day ALLOWING THE RESURRECTION TO GIVE RISE TO LIVING HOPE!
