There are times when things go to our head when it is our heart we need to consider. I have a perpetual calendar on which was recently the following: “Dear Father, when I am wrong make me willing to admit it and when I am right make me easy to live with. Amen.” Can we grasp the heart of that need in relation to our beneficial interaction with others?
With this already in mind, I was also struck by the following recent post: “Ego is concerned with who is right. Humility and an open heart allow you to be concerned with what is right.” Again, can we understand what is at the heart of such relative to contributing something beneficial in our interaction with others; humbly remaining mindful of what is right in relation to relationships?
As we interact with others, maintaining a sense of balance between what goes on in our head and how our heart is toward others is important. Regardless of what we rightly know, rather than a high mind we need to maintain a humble heart.
Writing the Christians at Rome, in light of the significance of their one another relationship in Christ, Paul urged. . .
“(3) For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. (4) For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, (5) so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” (Romans 12:3-5 ESV)
And writing to Christians at Philippi, Paul exhorted. . .
“(3) Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. (4) Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4 ESV)
There is balance to maintain in our focus so as to not think so highly of ourselves that we divide rather than draw. Valuing the part each one of us serves within the body of Christ, may we maintain a humble heart that continues to embrace, encourage, and build up!
Have a great day MAINTAINING A HEART OF HUMILITY!
