When I watch the game show “Jeopardy” (ABC television network), I am amazed at how much some people know on such a variety of subjects. Some contestants win lots of money for that knowledge. Perhaps we know people whose minds are full of trivia. Whether it be trivial facts or much needed knowledge, there is still the need to go a step further regarding its application for life.
Solomon stated. . .
“(13) Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, (14) for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. (15) She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.” (Proverbs 3:13-15 ESV)
Some search the Scriptures, but still don’t seem to understand as they ought. (i.e. John 5:39-40) Simply knowing facts is not enough. We have the need for wisdom; the ability to apply that knowledge to life. Though it may be rightly said that “knowledge is power”, exercising it wisely is what will bring our life the greatest enrichment. Wisdom can bring a contentment, happiness and joy that silver, gold, and jewels can never bring. There is more intrinsic gain for living from wisdom than there is from jewels. That wisdom would keep the jewels in their place — knowing that the lover of wealth really never finds satisfaction (i.e. Ecclesiastes 5:10) — while what is of utmost significance would become life’s sincerest quest; the things of eternal consequence. May we find contentment in the wisdom from above (note James 3:13-17) that God provides for living, recognizing His wisdom for the truly precious thing it is!
Have a great day PROFITING FROM THE WEALTH OF GODLY WISDOM!
