It has been noted that Christians can be divided into at least three classes: those who have given Christ a place in their life, those who have given Him prominence, and those who have allowed Him to have preeminence. What I must come to grips with is how significant is Jesus to me and have I truly surrendered to His Lordship? As Jesus gave His all for me, why would I refuse to surrender the whole of my life to Him? I must understand true discipleship as noted by Jesus Himself. . .
“(24) Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. (25) For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24-25 ESV)
Am I holding onto what I cannot keep, or am I willing to wholly surrender — lose my life in the Lord — in order to truly find true life now and eternally?
Writing to the church at Colossae, with reference to Jesus Paul stated. . .
“(18) And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.” (Colossians 1:18 ESV)
The Greek word translated “preeminent” means “to have first place” or “be supreme”. The only right place for Jesus is not merely a place or a prominent place, but first place! If the Sovereign Will is for Jesus to be preeminent in everything, then He must be preeminent in my life! May I continue to more fully surrender to it being so!
Have a great day ENGULFED BY THE SPHERE OF THE PREEMINENCE OF CHRIST!
